Work hard and you’ll make it – or so we thought. America may be the land of opportunity, but the data suggests otherwise. Poor kids doing everything right don’t do as well as rich kids who do less. Luck is as important as intent. Be born lucky, or work hard to create luck. The conventional work ethic wisdom is a great idea, but not reality.
