Creating a new currency is complicated by the other currencies. The Islamic State is issuing a currency based on metal coins. Sounds simple enough. But, creating a currency is not an independent act, unless your society is self-sustaining and isolationist. The issue would be moot if the existing currencies were healthier, but they aren’t. What will the rest of us do if we have to design a new system, BitCoin it?
