All hail Obamacare! Well, at least many cheered the Affordable Care Act. It was even upheld by the Supreme Court. The ACA managed to enroll millions of uninsured Americans, providing healthcare to many who had pre-existing conditions. Eventually, the greater spread of the insurance may bring down healthcare costs; but not yet. Obamacare is not healthcare, it is insurance. Healthcare costs have been rising far ahead of inflation and wages for years, and that trend didn’t suddenly stop. Some states are now seeing 33% increases in premiums as the new systems adjust but the old trends continue. Eventually, those costs are paid by people, affecting their personal finances. Obamacare helped, but the issue remains as worrisome as ever.
